Luxor

All it takes is one vacation to Luxor, Egypt and you will understand how it is one of Egypt’s greatest tourist attractions. It is universally understood to be the world’s prime outdoor museum. Luxor, Egypt is such a tourist attraction that it has been one of the world’s leading tourist attractions since the Roman ages; incredible! There are a plethora of amazing monuments and temples to take in that you will have to pick and choose which ones that you actually visit because it is almost impossible to take them all in during one vacation. Three major attractions worth fitting into your vacation are the Luxor Temple, The Mummification Museum, and the Luxor Museum.

The Luxor Temple
The Luxor Temple is located in the center of Luxor, Egypt on the east bank of the historical Nile River. It was built by the New Kingdom Pharaoh Amenophis III. It is quite small, but full of wonder. The typical visit can be accomplished in an hour’s time but it is most important in regards to history and mystique.

The Mummification Museum
The Mummification Museum is located to the north of Luxor Temple overlooking the Nile River. The museum’s goal is to provide guests with an understanding of the Egyptian art of mummification. It was opened in 1997 by President Hosni Mubarak and contains some of the following features:

– A large quantity of artifacts
– A lecture hall
– An educational video room

The Mummification Museum has everything you’ve ever desired to know about mummies; and not just the human variety. Ancient Egyptians also mummified birds, cats, and reptiles. Who knew?

The Luxor Museum
The Luxor Museum opened in 1975 and is housed in a smaller-sized building. The range of artifacts displayed is relatively small when compared to other museums but with good reason. The goal of the Luxor Museum is not to have an overabundance of artifacts but to have a smaller number available for visitors and to have great pride in the ones that they do have. In other words, the Luxor Museum chooses quality over quantity. They have mummies from ancient pharaohs as well as goods from the grave of King Tutankhamen himself!

From the food to the museums, you’re bound to have an enjoyable time with your closest loved ones or even your tourist group. Whether you’re going for a week-long vacation or something closer to one full month, it’s important to visit these three places in order to fully be able to respect Luxor, Egypt.
